To tackle mounting municipal waste, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has fast-tracked major waste management initiatives at the Okhla landfill site. These include a ₹153-crore, 1,400 MTD fresh waste processing plant slated for completion by October, alongside a 1,000 MTD C&D waste processing facility on a reclaimed site by November. Furthermore, MCD is advancing city-wide upgrades—developing five new fresh waste plants totaling 5,900 TPD by late 2026 and expanding waste-to-energy capacities—to bridge Delhi's critical gap between daily waste generation (12,847 MT) and current processing capacity.
